Little Peanut - Chilliwack Pet Photography
This week I got to shoot little Peanut, a cute little Chihuahua. It is very interesting shooting such a tiny dog...I almost had to go flat out on the ground to get low enough! Peanut was a rescue dog and is lovingly cared for by her owner Jennifer. Even after breaking her leg twice, Peanut is thriving.
Marley & Me - Chilliwack Pet Photography
On Saturday I was out at Island 22 taking photos of my daughter's horse club, when I saw my friend Shannon walking his dog Marley. Marley and I are good buddies...I dog-sit her on occasion and when I visit she likes to put her head on my lap. She's a big mooch and she knows it! So I was really happy to take some shots of her bombing around the park.
Cat Day at Chilliwack SPCA
When I went to take photos at the Chilliwack SPCA this week, there were no new dogs...but 9 cats! The cats are usually tricky to photograph for a couple of reasons: they are indoors so the lighting isn't great, and, being cats, they are really into doing their own thing and it is usually hard to get their attention. Except, of course, for the attention-seekers that want to get so close I can't focus properly.
That being said, the reason I want to get these photos out is to highlight the great work of the SPCA. This is not my "best work" as far as animal photography goes, but if it helps these little guys find forever homes, I'll consider it a success.
Kirby - Chilliwack Pet Portraits
Tonight I had a fun photo shoot with Kirby, a sweet Bichon/Shih Tzu cross, and her owner Bev. Kirby's 4th birthday is tomorrow! Happy birthday, Kirby. You don't look a day over 2.
My First Blog Post - Chilliwack SPCA
One of my New Year's resolutions this year was to get more involved in my community. So when I noticed that our local SPCA didn't have any photos of the pets in their care I gave them a call. For the last 2 months I have been going out on a weekly basis and taking photos of the pets that need forever homes. It has been a great experience to get to know the caring staff and of course all the amazing animals who come from a variety of difficult situations.
The dogs I met today were among the best-looking dogs I have photographed. They had lots of personality and were extremely photogenic. The cats are, well, cats. For the most part they were happy to see me but aren't all that interested in posing for pictures. I am learning to go with the flow.
